AMATEUR 2ND PLACE: With this photo of a Red-tailed Hawk hunting a rodent, Jim Fenton of Haverhill, Mass., won second place in the amateur category of WildBird's 18th annual photo contest. He earned a Kowa BD32-8 GR binocular.   AMATEUR 3RD PLACE: Ted Miller of Tierra Verde, Fla., won third place in the amateur category of WildBird's 18th annual photo contest with this Great Blue Heron fishing along the Anhinga Trail. He won a Kowa BD25-8 G binocular.
BACKYARD 2ND PLACE: Charles McRae of Marion, S.C., won second place in the backyard category of WildBird's 18th annual photo contest with this bathing European Starling. He won a Droll Yankee Big Top Green feeder. BACKYARD 3RD PLACE: With this female Anna's Hummingbird, Dan Carow of Seattle, Wash., won third place in the backyard category of WildBird's 18th annual photo contest. He earned a Droll Yankee Sunflower Domes Cage feeder.
DIGISCOPING 2ND PLACE: With this Savannah Sparrow, Gary Aspenall of San Jose, Calif., captured second place in the new digiscoping category of WildBird's 18th annual photo contest. He won a Nikon Monarch 8x42 binocular. DIGISCOPING 3RD PLACE: Ryan Merrill of Kirkland, Wash., won third place in the new digiscoping category in WildBird's 18th annual photo contest with this Common Grackle. He earned a Nikon 8x40 Action EX binocular.
WATER BIRDS 2ND PLACE: John J. Mullin of Long Beach, Calif., won second place in the water birds category of WildBird's 18th annual photo contest with this Brown Pelican. He won a Leupold Katmai 8x32 binocular. WATER BIRDS 3RD PLACE: With this close-up of a Tricolored Heron, Robert Cameron of Avon, Conn., won third place in the water birds category of WildBird's 18th annual photo contest. He earned a Leupold Yosemite 6x30 binocular.
FLIGHT 2ND PLACE: Wayne Miller of North Warren, Pa., won second place in the flight category of WildBird's 18th annual photo contest with this Osprey. He earned a Bushnell Discoverer 8x42 binocular. FLIGHT 3RD PLACE: With this immature Gyrfalcon, Fi Rust of Milliken, Colo., won third place in the flight category of WildBird's 18th annual photo contest. She won a Bushnell Legend 8x42 binocular.
